We’ve got Ghostcrew over on ResetEra to thank for this hot tip and also for reminding us that Skyrim Special Edition is available today for Xbox Game Pass subscribers on console. That is, 4K, 60fps, and all thanks to one mod. Thanks to the Xbox Series X’s awesome power, however, you can play Skyrim in a way that’s been previously reserved only for PC players. It’s just going to be one of those games that a certain segment of the gaming community is always going to consider “home.” Playing Skyrim on the Xbox Series X is sort of like breaking it in, setting up all your old furniture, hanging your family pictures, and putting away the family silverware in the attic to never see again. While PS4 Pro tops out around 1440p, the Xbox One X version will shoot much closer to 4K and might hit that target during less turbulent scenes. Both Pro and X offer dynamically scaled resolutions well beyond 1080p, but the peaks for both consoles differ. It’s one of the only titles to support native 4K on Sony’s top-tier console so the dynamic resolution could push things beyond 4K on the X, but that likely won’t happen in most heavy-effect areas.Īs for Fallout 4, the advantage is similar to what we’ve seen from other Bethesda titles since the Xbox One X’s release. With regard to how that stacks up against PS4 Pro, the Skyrim patch appears to essentially offer the same.
